America 250 Comes to the Frazier Kentucky History Museum with Kentucky State Society Daughters

America 250 at the Frazier Kentucky History Museum .

The commemoration of America 250 continues at the Frazier Kentucky History Museum with the opening of its newest exhibition, Revolutionary Threads, was held on Saturday, August 16. It runs through January of 2027. 

Members of the Corn Island Chapter, NSDAR, along with Daughters from   John Marshall, and Fincastle Chapters of NSDAR, Louisville, Kentucky.

A special note of appreciation goes to two remarkable Kentucky Daughters whose vision and dedication helped bring Revolutionary Threads to life. 

On display are representations of uniforms, clothing and items worn and used by the Patriot soldier ancestors and family members of the Transylvania Chapter, NSDAR, Lexington, Kentucky. 

Janet Freeman, Exhibit Co-Designer and Historical Clothing Designer, of the Transylvania Chapter, NSDAR, will share the inspiration, research, and craftsmanship behind the historical garments featured in the exhibit, her passion for historical interpretation and education was evident. It is exciting to see her talents showcased in this America 250 initiative.

Also presenting is Leslie James, Exhibit Artist and Logistics Coordinator, of the Transylvania Chapter, NSDAR. Leslie's artistic vision and behind-the-scenes coordination have been instrumental in transforming research and history into an engaging museum experience for visitors of all ages.

Together, these talented Daughters demonstrate how collaboration, creativity, and historical scholarship preserve our nation's story and inspire future generations. Their work is a wonderful example of the Kentucky Society DAR's commitment to education, historic preservation, and the commemoration of America's 250th anniversary across the Kentucky State Society, DAR, will participate in this special event in collaboration with the museum. 

Following the program, Corn Island member True Lewis, Kentucky State  Chair, Specialty Research, will be available to answer questions and visit with attendees. 

The museum's America 250 exhibitions continue to expand with Revolutionary Threads, joining I Too Am a Kentuckian and Pursuit of Happiness in telling Kentucky's remarkable story as our nation approaches its 250th anniversary.

We also heard from two modern day soldiers, Rob Givens and Amy McGrath, who are both featured in the I Too Am a Kentuckian exhibition. They talked about their military service and their Kentucky Roots.

I'm excited to share that I had the opportunity on Monday to join Cheri of Carolina Girl Genealogy and her wonderful GenFriends panel—Melissa Barker, Jenny Hawran, Laura Hedgecock, Cousin Dr. Shelley Murphy, and Mary Kircher Roddy—for a conversation about one of my favorite subjects, Family History! & My True Roots!

We talked about my journey to uncover my family's Revolutionary War story, how that research led me to the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and the unexpected doors it has opened—from national leadership opportunities to an invitation to Auburn University to share my work.

What began as a search for my family's past has truly become a journey of purpose, service, and preserving the stories that brought us here.

A Presidential Greeting for an Enslaved Man's Family - Mr. Ike Ivery

Note to Myself 

I just wanted to recognize a few things about the Letter we got from President Obama in Celebration of our 43rd Ike Ivery Family Reunion. 

We celebrated in Orlando, Florida with over 400 Descendants of Granddaddy Ike, his 3 Wives and 23 Children. On July 14th - 16th at Westgate Spa and Villas. 

The Orlando Reunion Committee gave my Family a Wonderful Hosted week of Enjoyment. 

This Letter will always be Special to us. Family Heirloom. 

There are 3 things of Note to pay close attention to in the Letter we received from the White House from President Obama.

The day it arrived, my Post lady was so nervous. She hand delivered the Envelope to my door and was very careful. She said you got a Letter from the White House and I wanted to make sure it got t0 you okay.  I would of been shaking like a leaf myself. 

1. The Embossed Presidential Seal. 

2. Dated Envelope from the White House. 

3. December 1st, 2015 - 50 Years after Rosa Parks sat  down on the bus in Montgomery, Alabama. 

How was the timing on that?  Very Significant. 

4. I knew we would need this in 2017.  So I tried to time when my Letter would arrive and the time it takes for them to return back.  I made sure 

I added 2 years on to the 2015.  In 2017 it would be 43 Years of Celebrating. 43 was the magic number. If you know Ivery Family History 8 of the remaining 23 Children for Granddaddy Ike started the Reunion in 1974. For our 2017 Reunion we got our 43rd Year of Celebrating our Family History dated in 2015. 

When I was able to read the letter aloud during our Banquet, I said I have a Letter from your President!!  

The room went still....The air was let out of the room like a deflating balloon, until I said; from your 44th President Barack H. Obama!!! 

The Family roared and clapped. The Committee was able to put the Letter in our Reunion Program Book so everyone would have a keepsake. 

This will be a Historical Note of Interest for our family one day.  I'll have this Blog Post to explain. Why and How did we get our 43rd Years of Celebration dated in 2015 for 2017. How did this all happen? With a Blessing of December 1st, 2015 - 50 years to the date of the arrest for Rosa Parks who Sat so we could have the right to ride the bus with full dignity in 1955. 

A video I put together for our Memorial Vigil. We Light 23 Candles every reunion. 

My Great Grandmother is the 

Daughter of Ike Ivery 

Eddie Lee Rosanna Susannah Louisiana Ivery Lewis 

Her son was James E. Lewis Sr. 

His son was my Father.

Daniel Mark Watson ● Ivy Mae's Brother Dies Tragically.

Daniel "Mark" Watson

Sweet little boy Daniel is known to the family as Mark. 

He was Born October 9th, 1905 

Cumberland County. Newville. Pa.

He Died on  June 23, 1908 

 West Pennsboro, Pa.

He was 2 years - 7 months - 14 Days.

Cause of Death: 

Drowned in Creek (Accidentally)

Daniel Mark was Baby Ivy's Brother.

I can't imagine the Pain of losing a child. Let alone 2 children, just merely babies in a short period of time. Cousin Elmer and Mary Elizabeth must of been thrown into the prongs of Grief for quite some time. It had to be heavy laden all of the burden they had to carry for the rest of their Lives. I just don't know or want to assume about their Grief. 

There's a old song. One Day, We'll be Together! comes to mind.

Daniel "Mark" missed being on a census so we will have to look other places for clues. For instance the Newspaper of the Day in Cumberland County, West Pennsboro, Pa. 

I would be reminisced if I didn't Thank my Cousin Pam . She contributes and makes sure we have the correct information. She provides support and research. I'm glad to have her as my 2nd pair of eyes on our Family History. 

She has been to Prospect Hill in 2012 when the Headstone wasn't there. We will look into why?She took so many photos, got us a map and  shared with all the Watson's. There are many of us on Ancestry. 

We all have a pretty good repertoire.
